“2000 sqft of mosaic, 4.6 million shells, 1 big mystery”. Apparently discovered by accident in 1835, this place is absolutely amazing. These underground tunnels have so many designs within designs that it is really too much to take in all at once. It is quite unlike anything I have ever seen or heard of before, and the mystery surrounding its original purpose only adds to the quirkiness of the grotto. While it doesn’t take long to walk round the tunnels, it is a very small fee to get in and the little museum before you enter shows exactly how passionate the owners are about this place. No picture can do it justice and I would urge anyone to take their beady little eyes for a look of their own!
