Elsecar Heritage Centre and Railway

Elsecar Heritage Centre and Railway is set in the conservation village of Elsecar, Barnsley. It is located within the former ironworks and colliery workshops of the Earl Fitzwilliam. Restored historical buildings now house an antique centre, individual craft workshops. The Centre is open 7 days a week, 10am to 5pm, although individual shops and businesses within the Centre have varying opening times.
The Heritage Railway on the site is made up of volunteers. The trains include steam, diesel and rolling stock. More information on http://www.elsecarrailway.co.uk/
The Centre is also idealy placed to access the Trans Pennine Trail and has plenty of local walking routes. It also holds an annual 3 day folk festival in August and has numerous other events throughout the year.
