Follow the brown signs

I remember my dad taking me on this when I was a little girl and today I took my girls on it. A funicular tramway up and down the cliff dating from the 1880s which works via a water system that fills up the tank of the higher tram to increase its weight, causing it to descend and pull up the lower tram (in my very basic understanding). The view from the top of the Saltburn pier is not to be missed. Apparently it’s the oldest working funicular in the UK!!
