Baldock
Entrance is FREE!
Baldock is an old coaching town, it used to sit on the main route of the Great North Road, but has been bypassed for years. And the modern east – west bypass has made this town a very quiet one. There is a historic church, a museum, wide high street and occasional markets. It’s name may be from the French name for Baghdad. The Knights Templar were active in this area and set off for the middle east in the hope of conquering Baghdad. The brown sign is a composite of 4 single symbols (restaurant, church, museum and accommodation).
